SHIKON Karate Club took 27 competitors to the 2007 Bohemia Cup in the Czech Republic.

In the kata (forms) Conor Hill took gold in the ten to 11 years boys section, Ryan Correya won the 12 to 14 years and, in the same age group, Shauna Carroll won the girls' gold.

Other kata medals went to Jessica Moruzzi (silver), Jamie Marsh (silver), Mary Berwick (bronze) and Oliver Briggs (bronze). Correya and Briggs took a medal each in the free technicals section.

And further success followed in the kumite (fighting) with Shauna Carroll beating the current Czech champion 6-5 in a thrilling final to win the girls ten to 12 years over 50kg event.

Moruzzi took gold in the girls 13 to 14 years over 50kg category and in the boys ten to 12 years under-40kg section, Correya and Briggs took first and second. Adam Carrigan-Smith won the boys ten to 12 years under-50kg. Sam Sullivan, Hill, Marsh and Berwick all won kumite bronze.

Day Two of the event was a chance for the seniors to show their talent. Chelsea Sydes took silver in the ladies kata, Jordan Mathews managed a bronze in the boys 15 to 17 years' and Joe Cruz, in his first International, claimed silver.

Andrew Michaelides and Sean Bashford romped to victory in the men's free technicals round. In the kumite, Sydes lost the final 2-0 to the Czech champion to win silver. Bashford also took silver, losing 3-1 in the mens' under 68kg final, with Michaelides winning bronze in the same category.

Joe Cruz took silver in the open weight division.
