Eton Manor’s renewed spring in their step continued as they recorded a whopping 62-24 win over Old Priorians in London One North on Saturday.

Manor sit mid-table after a third win in four, getting off to the ideal start when James Osborn strolled over the line for the opening try.

Reece Reed missed the conversion, however, and was immediately replaced by Ben Lockyer after aggravating a groin injury when he took the kick.

But Manor did not have to wait long for better news as they managed a second score through Tom O’Connor, who went under the posts before the try was converted by Nick Sheppard for a 12-0 lead.

Priorians did not give in, forcing Manor on to the back foot and winning an attacking lineout. From this position they carved a hole in the defence and recycled the ball over the line in the corner to reduce the deficit to 12-5. The try lifted the visitors as they continued to press the home side but they were unable to take their chances.

Manor now began to increase the pace of the game and got their third try through Connors, who had to twist and dot the ball down as Sheppard added the conversion.

Luigi Martelletti scored their fourth after a successful solo burst through two tackles and outpacing the opposition to make it 26-5.

But the scoring did not stop there for the home side as after a period of attacking play, Manor threatened inside Priorians’ 22 and from the scrum Garth Tucker powered his way through to score the final try of the half.

The second half began the same way as the first with John Robinson scoring immediately after the break and with the conversation a formality the score was now 38-5.

But yet again Priorians showed some fighting spirit and gradually worked their way up the field to score their second try.

Manor quickly hit back as Rory Moore was on hand to take the ball over the line but they then made the error of switching off as Priors scored two tries in quick succession.

From the restart, Eton upped their game again as Misiona Evagelia put the game out of reach for Old Priorians. Captain Tryson Goodchild added another score before Rhys Davis-Horne cut an excellent attacking line to dissect the defence for his side’s tenth and final score of the game.

London One North rivals Chingford also made a big splash at the weekend as they defeated North Walsham 40-16. Chingford now sit second, only one point behind leaders Tring.

Wanstead lost 21-17 to Ely in London Three North East.

The newly promoted side stunned top of the table Wanstead but The Herons will look to do better and cement their top position as they take on Southwold at Home on Saturday, October 22 with a 3pm kick off.
