London rugby league star Dan Sarginson has been included in Wayne Bennett’s 19-man England squad to face New Zealand thieir Four Nations opener in Huddersfield tomorrow.

The Former London Broncos player, who has been hindered by injury in the past two years, is back in the squad for the first time since England played the Kiwis in the 2014 Four Nations.

Joining him in the squad after a lengthy spell out is Sam Burgess, who returns as England captain.

Burgess will make his first appearance since the Rugby League World Cup semi-final against New Zealand at Wembley Stadium in 2013, following his return to rugby league having spent some time playing in rugby union.

New head coach Wayne Bennett said: “I was pleased with the way the players conducted themselves last week in France and the hard work they put in.

“There’s things we’ve looked at in the game and worked on this week. The boys know the pressure and the intensity will rise as we get closer to Saturday – it’s a challenge we’re all looking forward to.

“We’ve got a strong squad here who are ready to go and desperate to play to show us what they can do which is good to see.”

Chris Hill, John Bateman and George Williams also return to the squad following being rested for last weekend’s test match victory against France in Avignon.

The 23-year-old, who is moving to Australia shortly after the tournament to join NRL side Gold Coast Titans, will be hoping to cement his place in England’s Four Nations squad.

One of his aims is to return to London to face Australia on Sunday, November 13 in the penultimate match of the tournament at the London Stadium.

After this weekend’s clash against the Kiwis, England meet Scotland in Coventry on Saturday, November 5.

England Rugby League returns to London on Sunday, November 13 (2pm) to take on World Cup holders Australia at London Stadium.

This will be the first time these two sides have met on home soil since 2013.
