FC Leytonstone’s seniors bowed out of the London Sunday Challenge Cup after they were beaten 4-3 against west London boys Kennington at Leyton County last weekend.

One goal separated the two sides and despite going into the game on a good run of three wins in three Leytonstone couldn’t quite make it to the next round.

The home side went ahead early when Ibrahim Khan fired in from close range from an Ahmed Arab assist.

But the visitors did not crumble and things got worse for the Lemons are they were unable to defend from two set pieces of a free header and a free-kick.

After being 3-1 down going into the break, Steven Ellery was brought on to try and snatch a goal back and Kennington were out on the back foot when Zulqi Khan reduced the deficit to 3-2.

As it looked as though Leytonstone would take the game into their own hands the west London side produced a killer blow by scoring a fourth before Shameem Subratty scored his side's third.

The hosts will now turn their attention to the league as they take on Stoke Newington on Sunday.

It was good news however for Leytonstone’s Hackney Youth Blue League team as they won 7-0 over Centre FC.

The side went top of the league as Abbas Mohamed opened the scoring for the young Lemons with a header from 20-yards.

Mahi Syed drilled in a second from 20-yards three minutes late as Adam Kothia crossed for Syed to not home his second moments later.

Centre FC were abject as Syed got his hat-trick before Errol Matthews and Jamal Burgess rounded off the scoring.
