Philip ‘QuickSilver’ Bowes feels he has become more of an all-round fighter ahead of his final eliminator bout for the English super-lightweight title against Nathan Dale.

The 31-year-old won his last contest against Daniel Bazo on points with a unanimous decision from the judges.

The 5ft 11in athlete is taking on the ‘Slickster’, who has a record of 20-0 and will fight in the 25-year-old’s hometown of Norwich tomorrow.

“I am feeling good for the fight, I have left no stones unturned so I feel great,” said the Leytonstone boxer.

“I have been preparing really well, I have been at the club sparring, I have been eating right and training in the right way. I cannot really complain about how the preparing for the fight has been going.

“Of course Nathan will definitely have the hometown advantage. But when I get out there it is just him and me in the ring, for 10 rounds.

“The crowd will not make difference, I will be focused on the match 100 percent.”

Mental strength in boxing can be just as important as physical and Bowes has already competed in two tough fights in the past year.

The southpaw has not lost since May 2015 and vowed earlier in 2016 he would challenge for another title by the year end to progress his career.

He added: “I think the fact I have fought in two bouts with 10 rounds is a huge advantage.

“Dale has only managed that once but I know he will have been sparring the rounds in training.

“But it is different to when in the ring so we won’t know until the day who comes out on top. One of the main reasons I took up the fight was because of his unbeaten record.

“He has not fought anyone of my calibre and I am confident of my ability that I can give him his first loss.

“Winning titles is what boxing is all about."

Bowes is no stranger to title challenges having lost his last 10 round battle on points to Johnny Coyle.

But the boxer thinks this gives him an added boost rather than hinders his chances.

“The two losses have really pushed me on. Losing those fights made me a better fighter,” said Bowes.

“If Nathan does lose to me on Friday he should not be too disheartened by it.

“He can most definitely come back and become a better fighter like I did.”

The fight will take place at the Halls and includes a full undercard.

The winner will go on to fight for the English title next year.
