Waltham Forest Amateur Boxing Club’s Zeryab Ali continued his good form, stopping Nat Chiduwa in the third round to beat the Kettering fighter for the second time in a matter of months.

After a composed display in the first two rounds at the Haddenham and Elley ABC Show on Saturday, Ali started to take control in the third, with a powerful right and left hook combination forcing the referee to intervene with a standing eight count.

The match continued and Ali swiftly wrapped up the victory thanks to a quick four shot move which rattled Chiduwa, with the referee calling a halt to proceedings.

The amateur boxing club also had two junior fighters in action, with Matthew McCormack unfortunately being on the wrong end of a majority decision after a brave display in the ring.

Meanwhile, Waltham Forest’s Carlton Forchin was also on the losing side as despite edging the first two rounds, he tired in the third, meaning his opponent George Beatty was handed the victory by a majority decision.

Speaking after the event, Waltham Forest coach Ken Oram said: “I couldn’t have asked anymore of Ali, because he boxed brilliantly to secure his second victory over the lad.

“I also thought Matthew gave a good account of himself as well, because he still kept coming forward against a taller fighter.

“As for Carlton I am left scratching my head a bit, as I thought he had done enough to win the fight, but that is boxing not all the decisions go how you want them.”
