West Essex FC have been dealt a blow in the transfer window, with the news that top-scorer Michael Mignot has left the club to join Bostik North Division side Grays Athletic.

Mignot proved himself to be one of the most clinical strikers in the Essex Senior League last season, as he notched 30 goals in 41 games for West Essex, helping them to secure a seventh place finish.

That form saw the striker finish as the third highest scorer in the division behind Redbridge’s Brian Moses and Basildon United’s Marcus Bowers, leading to him being named in the Essex Senior League’s Team-of-the-Season.

However, Mignot has now become Jamie Stuart’s first signing of the summer at Grays Athletic, who finished in 16th place in the Bostik North Division last season.

Stuart has been in charge of the Gravelmen since 2016 and spent time with Charlton Athletic, Millwall, Bury and Southend United during his playing career.
