Ryan Maxwell has continued his summer shopping spree at Walthamstow FC, with striker Jamie Guy becoming the latest player to join the Essex Senior League side.

Guy becomes Maxwell’s fourth summer signing, with James Peagram, Craig Pope and Lee Flynn all moving to the Stags in recent weeks, who are targeting a promotion push in the coming seasons after their summer rebrand.

The club changed its name from Waltham Forest FC to Walthamstow last month to coincide with the club’s 150th anniversary, having retained their Essex Senior League status on the final day of the campaign with a 3-1 win over Ilford.

Guy will bolster Maxwell’s options up front ahead of the new season and has Football League experience having represented Colchester United earlier in his career.

Walthamstow boss Maxwell told the club’s website: “I played with Jamie at Heybridge, where we were a big part of getting the team to the play-offs.

“He’s a very good player, and I’ll be working with him to get him back to full fitness and back to his best.

“He’s got Football League experience, and he’s going to be a big character and a good influence on the younger members of the squad.

“Jamie had a bit of a break last season, so he’s raring to go. I’m delighted he’s chosen us ahead of many other clubs”.

Elsewhere, the Stags have also added three further fixtures to their pre-season schedule.

Ryan Maxwell’s men will kick off their pre-season with a trip Coggeshall United on Saturday, June 23, who finished as runners up in the Essex & Suffolk Border Combination Premier Division last season.

Walthamstow will then take on Hadley at Wingate & Finchley’s training ground on Wednesday, July 11, before facing Epping three days later.

The Stags will then host pre-season friendlies against Enfield Borough and Glenn Tamplin’s Billericay Town on Saturday, July 21 and Tuesday, July 24 respectively.
