Hasnan Ali and Jack Daly from the East London Boxing Academy enjoyed the trip of a life time as part of the London squad which defeated some of America’s rising stars in Los Angeles.

East London club captain Daly and deputy Ali were named in the 10 man squad for the tournament, where they tested themselves against fighters from the famous Johnny Tocco’s Ringside Boxing Gym, which has produced boxing greats like Mike Tyson and Sonny Liston previously.

If that wasn’t enough, the duo from Leyton got the opportunity to train at Floyd Mayweather’s gym to prepare for the contest, where they got to pick up tips from experienced professionals.

Both fighters would play an important role during the tournament, as they won their respective bouts to help the London squad, coached by East London’s Umer Ali and Lansbury ABC’s Adam Spelling, to secure a 6-3 victory over their American counterparts.

Club captain Daly came up against Aiseah Acheson in his senior cruiserweight division clash and the East London fighter dug deep, claiming a hard fought victory in the end courtesy of a unanimous decision.

Meanwhile East London’s Ali showed no sign of any nerves on such a big stage, as he recorded his best win to date against Edwin Rangel in the junior middleweight category.

Ali started well, piling the pressure on his opponent, and his class would ultimately prevail, as he won every round to claim a comfortable victory over the Johnny Tocco’s Boxing Club fighter.

Lansbury ABC’s James Fernley, Jahed Chowdry and Masie Clark won their respective fights as well as Ola Alusa, to hand the London side a 6-3 victory, capping off a memorable trip to Las Vegas for the amateur boxers.

East London coach Ali said: “The trip has been fantastic with the boxers training alongside world champions, meeting hall of fame trainers and sparring against future prospects. This has been a trip of a life time especially with both Jack and Hasnan winning against top quality opposition. It just shows how well the East London Boxing Academy has done.”
