A PROMISING Chingford sibling duo won a ranking tennis tournament over the half term break.

Connaught academy students, Georgina Bastick, 15 and her brother James, 13 emerged victorious in the Welti Open grade three event, in Salisbury.

Georgina scored a double success, winning both the U16s and U18s singles event.

She played her doubles partner, Abi Claydon, in both finals, winning a third set tie break to take the U18s crown.

Both then put their rivalry aside to triumph in the doubles category.

James displayed real character on his way to taking the U14s trophy.

The unseeded youngster had to work hard in the final's third set after slipping to a three games to five deficit, but he won four games on the bounce to take victory.

The pair's success boosted their rankings. Georgina, who is tipped for success, is ranked 19th in the UK U16s, while James is forging ahead by breaking into the country's top 100 U13 players. Both are ranked in categories a year ahead of their actual age.

Also, U10s player Ellis Temple won the U12 consolation event and was runner up in the U11s. Eva Dench lost in the semis of the U14. Aimee Daly reached the quarters of the U18 and semis of the U16 event.
