TALENTED young South Woodford golfer Daisy Dyer surpassed her own expectations when she finished runner-up at the Essex Ladies Championship in Clacton.
The 16-year-old - who recently returned from five-day warm weather training camp with the English Women' Golf Association at a top resort in Spain - battled her way through to the final where she narrowly lost out to last year's winner Jenny Pease of Braintree.
It was quite a feat for the junior, who has now been selected for the eight-woman Essex team for the County Championships in June.
Dyer said: "It was a really good achievement. I was only aiming to reach the semi-finals so I was really pleased with the way I played."
The Wanstead High School pupil continued her development with a fourth-place finish at the annual Hampshire Rose competition at Northants Golf Club, shooting three-over par.
She is now having a month out to concentrate on her school exams before getting back into the swing for the Essex Girls Championships and a number of merit-of-order competitions.
"My big goal is to get on tour but for now I am just focussing on enjoying it as much as I can. And I'm loving it at the moments," added Dyer.
"The warm weather training with the English Women' Golf Association is paying off, so a I owe them a big thank you."
