SWIMMING

BOUROUGH of Waltham Forest swimmers competed in two galas last week and returned with a variety of medals, club records and National Qualifying Times.

At the Redbridge Sprint Meet, Rochelle Cabey won gold for the 50m free and Morgan Watts took silver in the 200m breaststroke.

Joshua Burcombe picked up bronzes for the 50m and 200m breaststroke, 200m backstroke, 200m freestyle, 200m Individual Medley and the 50m butterfly.

Also in action, Nathan Leong got fourth place in the 200m IM and sixth for the 50m backstroke, while Lee Farmer came fourth in the 50m butterfly.

Meanwhile, at the Milton Keynes Regional Qualifier, impressive swimming from Stephanie Malcolm brought her three gold medals, three silvers and a bronze.

She also picked up up her NQT for the 200m backstroke and a new club record for the 50m back.

Sanaa Akbar got gold for the 100m, 200m and 400m freestyles and 100m butterfly and two bronze medals for the 200mIM and the 100m backstroke.

Rian Pate won golds in the 200m and 400m IM and 400m freestyle, and two silvers in the 200m freestyle and 200m butterfly.

Chloe Pate collected gold for the 200m breaststroke, silvers for the 200m freestyle and 200m backstroke and a bronze medal in the 200m butterfly.

Rochelle Cabey got golds for the 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke and silver in the 100m breaststroke.

Alex Jameson picked up two golds in the 100m butterfly and the 400m freestyle.

Chloe Pate collected gold for the 200m breaststroke, silvers for the 200m freestyle and 200m backstroke and a bronze medal in the 200m butterfly.

Tommy Willis won gold for the 200m breaststroke and silver in the 200m backstroke.

Elizabeth Hare took gold in the 400m IM and bronze for the 200m backstroke.

Greg Summers won gold in the 100m IM and bronze in the 100m breaststroke.

Elliott Hill scooped silver for the 200m backstroke and bronzes for the 100m IM and 100m freestyle.

Eris Crawford won silver in the 200m IM and bronze for the 400m freestyle.

Maya Augustin won silver in the 400m freestyle.

Oliver Burling took silver in the 200m breaststroke.

Emma Hasler won two bronze medals for the 100m and 200m butterfly.

Amrita Robertson got bronze in the 200m IM.

A second club record was achieved by the girls relay team of Stephanie Malcolm, Elizabeth Hare, Sanaa Akbar and Poppy Hill when they took gold in the 200m Medley Relay.

The boys team of Naill Gandy, Greg Summers, Elliott Hill and Oliver Burling also took gold for the 200m Medley Relay.

The teams for the 200m Freestyle Relays came home in second place. Swimming for the girls team were, Stephanie Malcolm, Sanaa Akbar, Emma Hasler and Eris Crawford and for the boys, Greg Summers, Matthew Whyman, Oliver Burling and Richard Brown.

Swimmers gaining top six placings, but just outside the medals were Ella Augustin, David Hare, Poppy Hill, Matthew Whyman and Naill Gandy.
