ATHLETICS

YOUNG members from Eton Manor Athletic Club performed well on day one of the Essex county track and field championships at Thurrock.

Georgia Green took the bronze in the girls' U13 long jump with a personal best of 3.71 metres, which gave her an invite to compete for Essex in the inter-counties championships later in the year.

She also clocked 13.69secs for the 70m hurdles. Aureole Kikanka ran 13.70 secs in the same event, but both failed to reach the final.

In the girls U15's 1500m, Imogen Adams ran a personal best of 5mins 58.38secs, while Ilayda Aktas recorded 6mins 16.84secs.

The women's U17 discus saw Natalie Harvey record a seasons best 29.87m to secure a bronze medal and an invite to compete in the inter-counties team.

In the 200m, Felicia Davies clocked 26.23secs although it was not enough for her to reach the final.

Yoje Kikanka clocked a PB time of 4mins 52.94secs in the boys U15 1500m, while Omololu Abiodun ran a superb PB - and a UKA grade 2 time - of 23.4secs in the heats of the men's U17 200m to reach the semi-final.

Manor athletes will be back at Basildon next week for days two and three of the championships.
