Lake John: Len Goulding got over a slow start to win the Waltham Abbey Open match.

The Simpsons of Turnford fisher started the match on the tip with not much happening on peg 29, but switched to his 13m ground bait line to entice skimmers, bream and a few tench with worm/caster in his ground bait for a winning bag of 54.8.0.

John Dulieu (Viscount Angling) used 6mm pellet over micro pellets, which paid off as he claimed second place with 45.6.0 from peg 26.

Martin Amos (Elite Baits-Old Hatfield Angling) had a steady day to catch skimmers and bream using worm to the hook, ground bait on one line and pellet on the other from peg 33. He bagged 44.10.0.

Of the 22 other particpants, Lake John's Colin Bartlett bagged 43.8.0 on peg 4, Gary Miller (Van Den Eynde) had 43.0.0 from peg 7, and Sam Hart (Princess Alexandra Hospital) netted 40.10.0 from peg 3.

Debden AS: Russ Hogg - fresh back from his annual fishing holidays in Cornwall - fished pole/casters up in the water at Churchgate Fishery to catch 32lb of ide and skimmers.

A late 9lb carp gave Hogg a winning weight of 41.14.0.

Jimmy Hornsby's 33.11.0 bag saw him finish in second place.

Terry Churchill (29.2.0) was third and Dave King (20.12.0) fourth.

Best bream of the day was caught by Brian Austin and Jay Thomas, both at 4.5.0, while the total club weigh-in from the 12 out of 14 who fished was 228.10.0.
