DOG RACING

DROOPYS Lotto looks the favourite to win the Maiden Half Grand final at Walthamstow tomorrow night (Wednesday).

Stacey Baggs' home raider will hope to make the most of his fine trap draw in six in a race that features five railers.

There is little to choose from in this contest, which is down as race 12 on the night, although Lotto who also secured the fastest heat time in 28.85secs is likely to secure most of the smart money.

Mark Wallis' Seanis Doir is two will need to find his trapping boots if he is to stand a chance of avoiding what looks set to be a messy turn one.

A box-to-wire victory in the heats in 28.98secs, suggests he is more than capable of doing that.

Floptheminkwork, who also won his heat in 29.08secs is also capable of producing the goods from trap four.

Prior to that there is an excellent-looking hurdles contest in race three.

Lorraine Sams' Analyse in three is in a rich vein of form with three wins from his last four outings and should have too much for the rest of the field.

Stevensonrocket, who produced a useful trial in 29.16secs at the start of the month will look to replicate that kind of performance from the black box of four if he is to stand a chance of victory.

Following that this Saturday sees Walthamstow's heat of the Irish Derby Trial Stakes in race 13.

The winner not only gets £675 in prize money, but also gets the money-can't-buy entry into the derby.

Seamus Cahill's Noirs Dennis in six produced a blistering 28.75secs when last winning on home soil, so will no doubt start as favourite to win this prestigious prize.

Ernest Gaskin's Cobra Striking and Blackmagic Jack in two and three respectively should not be over looked at your peril.

Finally Walthamstow handler Mark Wallis kept up his pursuit for the Trainers Championship, with an excellent second and third place finish in the Gymcrack final at Hall Green thanks to Goldcrest King and Eye On the Brave respectively.
