DAVID BECKHAM has admitted he is relishing the prospect of returning to London's East End as he prepares for his clash with West Ham for an all-star MLS team tonight (Thursday).
Former Manchester United star Beckham will front the Americans' side, and after growing up and beginning his football career in the capital, the LA Galaxy midfielder admits he can't wait to showcase his talents on his home patch.
"It is great, being an East End boy playing against West Ham," Beckham said on Setanta Sports News. "I did it so many times for Manchester United and scoring against them did not go down well with my friends but it is always nice to play against a quality team.
"They are a quality team with good players and are working towards the start of the season. It will be a tough game and we are looking forward to it."
The game also gives Beckham the chance to prove he still has what it takes to cut it at the top, and he knows it is a chance to put in a strong performance.
"Anyone involved in all-star games wants to play well and you are always going to come up against a good team.
"All the players here are experienced enough to realise it will not be a walk in the park and as an East End boy it is one I am looking forward to."
