TOTTENHAM are preparing to make a shock bid for England ace Michael Owen, according to reports.

Juande Ramos is keen to get another striker on board after seeing Robbie Keane depart for Liverpool and the future of Dimitar Berbatov remaining in the balance.

The Spurs boss has been linked with a host of possible replacements, including Russian pair Andrei Arshavin, Roman Pavlyuchenko, Real Zaragoza's Diego Milito and West Ham's Dean Asthon.

But Newcastle hitman Owen, who has one-year remaining on his Magpies contract, has emerged as a new target, with reports suggesting that Ramos is willing to stump up £12million for the 89-capped 28-year-old.
