SAMIR NASRI believes added strength and more goals are the two areas he must improve on if he is to be a success story at his new home in north London.

That will surely come as music to the ears of the Arsenal faithful after they already tasted a sample of both in the Frenchman's mercurial display in the side's 1-0 win over West Brom.

After scoring the all-important goal, Nasri admitted he 'felt good' in his league debut despite Arsene Wenger's words of caution that it could take up to six months for him to settle into the intensity of the English game.

"I have a personal programme with the physio to get stronger because everyone has told me English football is different, with more contact," said the young attacker.

"I am working very hard in training, and felt really good out on the pitch. It is just to be stronger and to be able to cope with the 50-50s, with the intensity of English football.

"There were not that many problems for me to adapt to playing in England. When I first met Arsene Wenger, he said that maybe I would need a bit of time, maybe up to six months.

"But I felt really good straight away and everyone gave me a lot of confidence.

"I could not dream of a better start but the most important thing was the win. I am not known to be a prolific goalscorer, but I just want to further my career.

"If I want to achieve what I want, then I need to score goals. I did not feel nervous because every time I go on the pitch I just want to enjoy myself – and I did.

"Before the game, the manager told me that with the football we play at Arsenal, everything would be fine."

Indeed, the French boss has seen enough quality already to liken Nasri's style of play to that of club legend Robert Pires.

"There’s a bit of Pires in him because he looks to be able to change direction very easily," said Wenger. "He also has the same style of run, but he is a bit smaller.

"He looks intelligent, capable of good acceleration and sees a good vision of the game, and that left flank suits him."

"Nasri has already added something that they wanted from him in France – more goals."

In terms of results, it has been a good start for Arsenal, with three goals and two clean sheets in their opening two fixtures against West Brom and FC Twente in their Champions League qualifier last Wednesday.

Despite the fact those matches have not yielded the familiar free-flowing football akin to a Wenger side, the Frenchman remained unconcerned and insisted they would mount a serious title challenge, stating: "I believe we are good enough to win it."
