JONATHAN Woodgate insisted he was sure a move to Tottenham was the right one despite receiving a hostile reception from Middlesbrough fans during his new team's 2-1 defeat on Teeside.
Woodgate left Boro to join 'a team on the up' but admitted he could understand where the home fans were coming from.
"I wouldn't have expected anything else from the Boro fans," Woodgate said. "I would have probably done the same in their position.
"Of course Middlesbrough fans will boo me - they've booed their own players before so I expect to get booed. I left my home-town club to join a team that was on the up, and is still on the up.
"I think it was 100 per cent the right move that I made."
