JUANDE RAMOS chose to take the positives out of his team's opening day defeat of the season to Middlesbrough and insistsed he was pleasded with the way the team were 'gelling.'

Goals from David Wheater and former Spurs striker Mido were enough to inflict defeat on Ramos, getting his revolution off to the worst possible start.

The Spaniard has overseen a major overhaul of the playing staff at White Hart Lane this summer and after an impressive pre-season campaign, the team failed to deliver when it really mattered. But Ramos was unfazed and insisted the team's targets have not changed.

"Our hopes and aspirations are still very much intact," said Ramos. "We have lost the first game but there is still a long way to go.

"We are on the right lines. I think generally we're playing very well, our style of play is going well and we just have to hope that we keep improving as the season goes on."

The Spanish coach was pleased with the performances of new quartet Heurelho Gomes, Giovani, Luka Modric and David Bentley, adding: "As a group, the new signings are on the same level as the rest of the team, they are working hard to become part of the set-up and gelling nicely with the rest of the squad."
