EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR has finally put pen-to-paper on a new deal at Arsenal.

The Togo ace, who scored 30 goals last season, had been looking likely to join either AC Milan, or Barcelona during the summer.

But having been handed a new bumper long-term deal at the Emirates, the former Monaco frontman was happy to remain at the Emirates.

Adebayor was less pleased, however on Saturday when he stormed off the pitch after the Gunners 1-0 win over West Brom. Some sections of the home crowd had booed him, following what they believe was a lack of commitment during the close-season after he failed to make his intentions clear about a possible move.

A delighted Arsene Wenger, hwoever said: "We have to get behind him and support him because he is a tremendous force and is of tremendous importance for the team - you want your own fans to be behind him.

"What happened in the transfer period did not always reflect his deep desire and there was manipulation from agents on both sides.

"Every player needs to feel wanted. I think he is settled in his own mind. He has given a lot in the first two games."
