Lake John, Waltham Abbey: midweek open match

Rob Wright (Oakwood) bagged a ton of skimmers and bream, plus three bonus carp, for a winning bag of 100.8.0 on the top lake.

Using the method of the moment - dropping the feeder on the pole line at about 13m - Wright hair-rigged an 11mm pellet and used fish meal ground bait in the feeder.

Paul Reddy (Simpsons of Turnford) finished second with 81.0.0 using under arm feeder cast to the polie line. He landed two carp and added the mandatory 10lb carp to the toal of skimmers and bream.

Lake John's Graham Cook bagged 75.12.0, with feeder again doing the damage.

The next best three in the 20-strong midweek open was Paul Law (Talk Angling), who had 65.0.0 from peg ten, followed by Lake John pair Tim Hawton (63.0.0) and Alan Hart (55.12.0).

Warwick AS:

Thirteen members turned the clock back to re-visit Old Father Thames at Laleham, bagging a total weigh in of 56.3.8.

Micky Parini had 9.12.0 of roach, caught to hemp and tares on the ten-metre pole line, for top place.

Allen Sprake had the same tactics but used caster for 9.7.0 of roach to claim second place. Steve Beaumont, using maggot feeder and groundbait, finished third with 7.0.0.

Walthamstow Brothers AS:

Twenty-one riders managed 500.3.0 pf carp at at Framfield Fishery on Brookhouse Lake.

Mark Palmer was the winner on the day with 60.10.0 of carp to pole and pellett.

Steve Arthy, just piped by 5oz, had to settle for second place with 60.5.0. Bill Tomkins was third with 49.10.0.

Top OAP member was Mick Marriott with 25.5.0, while top junior member, ten-year-old Jordan Shirley, had 2.8.0.
