HAINAULT Roads Club sent a three-man squad to Sunday's National Championship 12-hour time trial held in Newmarket.

In a performance befitting the club champion, Rob Dulson established a new personal best for the event covering over 255 miles and, judging by his on-bike body language, was enjoying every hard-fought mile he raced.

Team-mate Chris Tomkins, riding in his first ever 12-hour event and having trained significantly this year in preparation, posted a fine mileage of 215.02, which would have been more but for the stoppage due to a puncture.

A disappointed Paul Godfrey, in his first attempt at the event, was unable to maintain the target speeds and retired after seven gruelling hours in the saddle.

Winner of the event was famed British all-rounder Ian Cammish, who covered 284.54 miles in the time allotted.

Meanwhile, Hainault's Mark Steers knocked a whopping 1min 23secs off his previous PB time for a 25-miler by recording 57:47 in a Shaftesbury club promotion.

Hainault host their own team trial over the distance in October.
