JERMAINE Jenas has urged his team-mates to learn from their mistakes of last season and respond strongly to Saturday's 2-1 opening day defeat to Middlesbrough.
The Lilywhites' midfielder saw the team stumble into the bottom three after the opening six games of the season following a first day defeat to Sunderland. But he is determined not to see history repeat itself this term and is confident the side can bounce back.
"Perhaps we dwelled on things too long last season,' Jenas told the club's official website.
"After six games of the season we were in the bottom three and this club is too good for that.
"It's important we pick ourselves up, go positively into our first home game next weekend and get that win.
"We wanted to win and the likes of Giovani [dos Santos] and Luka [Modric] have now got a taste of what the Premier League is all about. We'll be ready for next weekend."
