JONATHAN Woodgate has warned his team-mates that they have to 'work harder' off the ball if they are going to have a successful season.

The centre-back played in his side's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Middlesbrough on Saturday and insisted things have to change.

"We had a lot of the ball, but lost it too often and have to work harder as a team to get it back," said the former Real Madrid defender.

"When we've got the ball we're a good team but when we haven't we have to be more compact. It's going to take a bit of time but let's see where we end up at the end of the season."
