FORMER Spurs legend Chris Waddle believes his big-spending former club will still struggle to secure a Champions League spot this season.
The north Londoners have spent a staggering £40million this summer, but Waddle who was a fan favourite at White Hart Lane during the 1980's believes they still need time to challenge the big-four.
"I just don't think they are ready yet. Just because they have spent a lot of money doesn't mean they are going to break into the top four,” the former England winger told the Sun.
"I still think they need a few more players in key areas.
"Tottenham will be Tottenham. They will score goals and they will have some wonderful games but they'll also have some stupid games and concede loads.
"Unfortunately that's the beast that is Tottenham.
"They may make the top four next season but this year they won't do any better than fifth or sixth."
