ARSENAL midfielder Cesc Fabregas has urged manager Arsene Wenger to go all out to sign his fellow countryman Xabi Alonso.
The Gunners have been reported to have agreed personal terms with the Liverpool midfielder, but according to media reports have pulled out of the move, after bulking at the Reds asking price for the Spanish international.
But Fabregas is keeping his fingers crossed that Wenger will make a renewed move to sign Alonso.
“I’d love it,” Fabregas told the Telegraph. “What can I say? He’s my friend but apart from that he’s a professional. He’s a great passer of the ball, he works hard defensively, he’s scoring goals now. For me it would be perfect.
“He has experience. He has won the Champions League, he has got to another Champions League final, he’s a European champion and he’s only 26.
“Of course, right now we are competitive but maybe in the middle we need somebody who can make some competition, who can add another dimension. I think that’s all we need really. All the rest is fine.”
