SUNDERLAND boss Roy Keane is considering a shock move for his nemesis on the football pitch, former Arsenal skipper Patrick Vieira.
The French midfielder is thought to be unhappy at Inter Milan following the arrival of ex-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and Keane is eager to take Vieira to the Stadium of Light, despite several memorable clashes on the field during the Irishman's time at Manchester United.
Keane made an enquiry for the France international over the summer but was put off by Vieira's hefty wage demands. But the Irishman insists he would be supported in any attempt to prise the midfielder out of the San Siro by the Sunderland board.
Asked if he was looking to bring in Vieira, Keane said: “Not when I found out his wages!
“If I believe this player can give us something, I’m sure the board would back us. We’re always making enquiries about lots of players.
“How great is he? I don’t know. I don’t go down that road. I just know he was a bloody good player.
“He had good leadership skills, too. But not as good as mine!”
