JUVENTUS are interested in signing Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric in the January transfer window, despite the Croatian having only joined Spurs over the summer.

The £16million acquisition from Dinamo Zagreb has seen his new side fall to the foot of the Premier League, having made their worst start to a league season for 96 years.

With expectations of Champions League football greeting his arrival, this is exactly the sort of situation the Croatia international would not have envisaged.

And according to Corriere dello Sport, Juventus chiefs are desperate to land a creative midfielder after failing in their bid to prise Xabi Alonso out of Anfield.

Reports suggest Modric fits the bill, and a sizeable offer could be made when the window re-opens after Christmas.
