Little Thurrock Dynamos Wildkatz 1
Redbridge Ladies 1

Essex County Girls Football League, Under 12 Division 2

IN driving rain and bitter cold, the girls got off to a flyer with a solo goal from Mortimer.

She dribbled through the right side of the Wildkatz defence beating several defenders and then lifted the ball past the keeper from a narrow angle.

Redbridge took heart from this and playing downhill virtuallly set up camp in the Wildkatz half.

However, they couldn't find another way through. Manager Grace made a tactical switch to try to get the important second goal by bringing daughter Grace out of goal onto the pitch with Goodman taking over in goal. However, a goal wouldn't come.

Then, on the stroke of half time, Wildkatz levelled the score with a controversial goal when the referee allowed play to go on although Edwards was laying injured at the other end of the pitch.

The worry at the start of the second half was that, with the confidence-boosting equaliser and playing downhill, Wildkatz would get on top but far from it Redbridge gave as good as they got.

Walker became Redbridge's third keeper of the game and kept Wildkatz at bay while Sanderson, player of the match Grace and Miller all had great runs almost ending in goals.

After the disappointment of the home defeat at the hands of Wildkatz in the previous game, this was a battling performance from Redbridge and they were unlucky not to get the win.
