THE LOCAL bowls teams have been in action, with Wadham’s two Thursday Fours teams in fine form.
The first team beat Griffin 21-16, while the B team overcame Wanstead Central 23-14.
The ladies enjoyed a 22-21 result against Aldersbrook. In the Foresters League the men comprehensively beat Wanstead, 77-47.
Elsewhere in the division there was defeat for Wadham against Aveling Park by 76 shots to 64, as well as a loss in the Simon Shield.
Bantham & Ongar BC had two players advance in the Brentwood & District Affinity Pairs. Mike Nash and Keith Lodge won against Brentwood and now go into round two.
The second string team lost to Burnham in the Chelmsford & District competition.
Bill Cook, Len Harris, Dave Hodson and George Finbow lost 13-21 while Gary Mitchell, Frank Dewhurst, Don Hedges and Geoff Hyatt went down 12-18, as did Mike Nash, Jim Heppel, Dave Stacey and Keith Lodge 16-24.
Meanwhile, Wanstead Central’s trio of Bob Druce, Rod Hudson and Paul Whellams are in the semi-finals of the County event after winning 20-17 against Safron Walden.
Wanstead also won their Jackson Shield group match against Barley by 64 shots to 55 shots.
