Redbridge 0
East Thurrock 1
(Ryman Premier)

REDBRIDGE closed a season to forget when Darren Greaves' second-half header inflicted a 34th defeat of the campaign on the Motormen as they finished 25 points shy of safety.

But amid all the gloom of a season that witnessed just three victories, Redbridge's young team have shown a degree of promise in recent weeks. On Saturday, Redbridge were under the cosh in the early stages but they had valid claims for a penalty turned down when Mitch Hahn fell under keeper Riley's challenge. East Thurrock forced the first shot of the game when Jon Turnbull's effort was well saved. Danny Hayzeldean flashed a volley just wide and, for Redbridge, Leon Antoine broke free of the Thurrock defender but lacked conviction with his shot and Riley easily saved.

Shortly afterwards Ben Bradbury released Hahn, who controlled well before shooting over the crossbar.

The end-to-end action continued in the second half with Chris Perkins nodding Charlie Bull's effort over.

Just after the hour Ryan Lee was caught in possession by Daniel Rafter, who crossed for Greaves to head home unmarked.
