EPPING wil be looking to take their strong end-of-season form into Saturday's Denny King Cup final clash with Ongar.

Manager Ian Corner knows his side will face a tough challenge from Ongar, who lost only one league match this season.

But Corner can point to his own team's performance of late that saw them pick up four points from the last two games to secure their place in the Essex Olympian League Division One.

And success in the Cup would mean Epping finishing on a high after what Corner described as a "difficult" season.

He said: "It's a nice way to finish what has been a difficult campaign.

"We're expecting a tough game with Ongar, who are an excellent side and we know we'll have to be at our best to win the game.

"But it's a one-off match and we are capable in these kind of situations.

"It's been a bit of a wait for both us and Ongar. We've had a few weeks since finishing the season and everyone's just chomping at the bit to get on with it all now.

"I'm sure they're looking forward to it as much as us and hopefully it will be a really good match."

Corner will check on the fitness of a few of his players, but is confident his team can pull off a result if they show the same resolve as they have in the last couple of games.

He said: "I know we are capable of much more than we have showed this season, our displays and results in these final games prove that.

"In the last three or four games really, the lads have shown how they can be consistent and get results back to back.

"The players have a chance now to get ahead if you like for next season by doing well in this Cup and it would be especially nice to win a trophy.

"It's been a long time since this club was in this position in a knockout cup and we have a great opportunity to kick-start our fortunes again by clinching some silverware."

Corner added: "It won't be long before the new season starts and we're off again.

"It has seemed like a long season. There have only been one or two postponements, other than that we have played every weekend in what has been quite a long season.

"But to end with a Cup game is good and we'll be aiming to do as well as we can to finish on a real high."

The match takes place at White Notley's ground, KO 2.15pm.
