NEWHAM and Essex Beagles' Mo Farah produced another great performance to confirm his status as Britain's top distance runner with a second-place finish at the Healthy Kidney 10km road race in New York's Central Park on Saturday.

His time of 28minutes 37seconds suggest his training is progressing nicely for this summer's European Championships in Gothenburg.

The 23-year-old finished second to his training partner, Craig Mottram (Australia), who clocked 28minutes 13seconds.

Farah raced through 5km in 14minutes 19seconds and went on to beat his previous best 10km road time by 22 seconds.

Beagles' distance runner Mark Warmby put in an excellent show to win the 5000m at the Loughborough Inter-national on Sunday.

Warmby, running as a guest, stopped the clock in 14.04.48, just under 17 seconds faster than second-placed Simon Plummer (Scotland).
