LEYTON FC's promotion ambitions for next season have been boosted by the confirmation of a pre-season friendly with Conference giants Cambridge United, writes Ross Davies The fixture will be played at Leyton Stadium on August 5 before the new season kicks off.
A club spokesman said: "It's obviously a big fixture for us. We've applied to a few other bigger clubs and are waiting on a response."
The Lilywhites endured a torrid campaign last year, finishing in the bottom half of the table despite reaching the play-off final the previous year.
It is an experience the team will hope to put behind them as they gun for promotion next season. The spokesman said: "It just didn't happen for us last season. The competition wasn't that good so it was a great opportunity lost but we're determined to do the business next year.
"We're looking for promotion, no doubt about it."
