New Tottenham Hotspur signing Scott Parker has described his debut for the club as ‘very special’.
The England international made a perfect start to life at White Hart Lane putting in a fine performance as Tottenham defeated Liverpool 4-0.
The 30-year-old joined Spurs over the summer from West Ham United and said his new side knew how important the game against the Reds was.
Speaking to Spurs’ website Parker said: “It was always a crucial game, we knew that.
“When a team like Liverpool come they are the teams that are going to be around you and you know you need to take points off them.
“It was a big game and we had to get the three points. We’re all delighted we managed to do that with such a good performance as well.”
Parker has made debuts for six different clubs during his career but admitted he was a little nervous before his first appearance for Spurs.
He said: “Obviously I’m quite experienced now, but it was quite a nerve-wracking day, at the same time very special and to start with a win like that was perfect.”
