KARATE
HIGHAMS Park-based karate club Ryukyukan secured a string of medals at the second EU-Okinawa Open Karate and Kobudo Tournament last weekend.
The club, which is located at the Matsuri School for Karate Excellence E4 Health and Fitness Club in Hickman Avenue, saw a number of its members walk away with medals from the international tournament at the Robert Clack School Leisure Centre.
Leading the way with three golds and two silver medals was 18-year-old Kathryn Huddleston.
In total Ryukyukan secured 17 golds, 15 silvers and 14 bronzes.
