(National Cup - roundup)

FIVES and Heronians moved into the next round of the National Cup on Sunday with a 234 run win over Middlesex Tamils.

Daniel Stevens (79), Glenn Jackson (22), Ed Buxton (23), Rahul Bhome (67) and Terry Ballard (36*) all scored freely with the bat.

Thanks mainly to Chris White (4-8) Middlesex crashed all out for 86.

Woodford Wells also enjoyed a great win in the National Cup with a 140-run win over Sawbridgeworth.

Thanks largely to a great knock of 88 from Hassan Chowdhury Wells declared on 202-9 from their 45 overs.

Rory Ellison (4-12) and Rob Smith (4-14) had Sawbridgeworth all out for 62.

South Woodford enjoyed a 100-run victory over Tring.

A ninth-wicket partnership between Irfan Ul Huq and Matt Lancaster of 67 helped them to a reasonable score of 157.

Tight opening bowling from Ul Huq and Garry Neicho, yielding just 16 runs from the first 12 overs put Tring under pressure, enabling 17-year-old spinner Simon Correya to take 5-14 from six overs.

Loughton came off second best against Bexley.

They struggled, despite the efforts of opener James Steadman (29). Michael Gymer (29) and Faisal Shah (34), Dan Sibley (23), Andy Bray (29*) and Richard Gymer (20) took the total to a respectable 189.

Khan (50) was in excellent form as Bexley romped home with ten overs and six wickets to spare.

Harlow slipped to a 69-run defeat at home to Hainault and Clayhall.

The visitors posted 232-8, despite Nicky Baxter taking three wickets.

The Marigolds men battled hard but came up short despite a fine knock of 55 from Waqas Akhtar.

Chingford's game with Brondesbury was a victim of the weather and will now be replayed on May 18.
