TANG SOO DO
LARKSWOOD Tang Soo Do club picked up an impressive nine-medal haul in the martial art's 30th Central Championships.
The event was broken down into two categories, forms (Hyung) and free fighting and Larkswood's team racked up a superb medal tally.
Maz Islam (first Dan black belt) was the outstanding performer, picking up a gold in forms and a bronze in free fighting in the male over 16s competition.
Red belt Courtney Cooke also earned two silver medals in each category, competing in the junior U11s group, while Calvin Lewis won a bronze in forms and a silver in free fighting in the 11-13 age category.
Blue belts Elmyra Jean and Mandeep won golds in the free fighting and forms respectively in the female over 16s category last weekend.
Club instructor, Master Griffiths was delighted with his team's efforts.
He said afterwards: "It was a tremendous achievement from everyone at Larkswood, especially when you consider that we are such a small club."
