Connaught land another title

TENNIS

CONNAUGHT Tennis Club have served up more success by landing another title.

After two great wins at this year's National Championships, where Sophie Lemom and Averil Murphy won their respective age catogries, the Chingford-based club saw its mens Over 35s team win the National Club Championships held in Nottingham.

The team consisting of Jason Friend, John Ranson, John Fletcher, Elliot Fowell and Will Brand beat Prestbury 4-1.

Friend, Ranson and Fletcher managed to secure convincing 3-0 wins, while Fowell and Brand both had five game marathons.

The latter managed to carve out a victory - taking in excess of one hour and 15 minutes, while the former was the only member to lose a rubber on the day.

- Connaught's squash section is hosting a Cancer Charity event in memory of Don Peters at 1pm on Saturday.

Cost is £10 per person and other facilities will be available at the venue in Rangers Road, Chingford.
