Wanderers looking for a repeat scoreline against Old boys
ILFORD Wanderers go into this Saturday's tie against Old Brentwoodshoping to dispense another thumpingto the side againstwhom they registered their highest points tally this season.
But Wanderers coach Brain Scahill expects Old Brentwoods to be baying for revenge on their own turf this time around. When the two clashed in September, Ilford scored 48 points without reply.
"I am expecting to be a very tough game because they will be smarting after we beat them so heavily," said Scahill.
"In that game, everything went right for us and wrong for them.."
The result was a high point of a season in which Wanderers have been in almost constant promotion contention.
However, their campaign has gone awry recently, with two losses and one draw from their last three games. Scahill will be forced to make a change among the forwards.
"Hopefully we can come away with the points" he mused.
Whatever the result, Scahill feels that Wanderers' recent blipin form has loosened their grip on a promotion place and taken it out ofhis team's hands.
"We need Maldon and Dagenhamto slip up for us to have a real chance" he said. "But we will use the remaining games to blood youngsters' ready for the next season."
