Leaders Dagenham wont take basement boys for granted

DAGENHAM will move one step closer to promotion if they can avoid slipping up against basement team East London on Saturday.

The D's have chalked up nine wins in a rowto romp to the top of Essex One. They look certainties for promotion, unlike East London.

They are rooted to the foot of the table with a woeful record of no wins and 14 defeats across the draw.

The last encounter between the two ended in a 20-58 victory for Dagenham.

Yet despite of the disparity, D's skipper Ben Fowler has counselled caution aheadof Saturday's apparent walkover.

"East London have pushed most sides very close since Christmas" he said."They possess some dangerous players and are capable of scoring plenty of tries so we will need to be very switched on this Saturday.

"In terms of our own form, we have built up some good momentum, and during this critical period of the season, we need to make sure we are adopting the same approach that has served us so well in the past few months."

Fowler also praisedhis players' efforts. He said: "I cant fault the players, their attitude has been first class, and there is a great desire and hunger flowing through the squad."
