Dagenham in the hunt for title glory
DAGENHAM entertain Millwall in the final round of Essex One matches this
weekend, looking to secure the league title.
The Central Park side remain locked on points with Maldon, both having won 15 of their 17 games so far, but the D's holding onto pole position at the moment courtesy of their superior points difference.
"We have got ourselves in a great position thanks to putting together a tremendous run," stated skipper Ben Fowler.
"The players should be extremely proud of what they have achieved so far this season, hopefully we can hang onto top spot and create a little bit of history for the club.
"Way back in November when we lost to Maldon in the league, our second
defeat in three games, we sat down as a group of players and asked ourselves how we wanted the rest of our season to go. Since then, there has been a steely determination to succeed and it has got us to where we stand with one game to go"
Reflecting on this weekend's clash, he added: "Millwall are a very good side, they have produced some strong performances of late, notably in securing a big win against Upper Clapton, and pushing Maldon very hard.
"So we know that they will come to Central Park and throw everything at us, all I ask of the boys is that they raise their game one more time and meet the challenge head on"
