Clapton and Wanderers set to lock horns again

LOCAL rivals Ilford Wanderers and Upper Clapton will be hoping to end the season with the derby day bragging rights on Saturday.
Wanderers will go into the clash favourites having just fallen short in their quest for promotion.
Brian Scahill's men have already done enough to be assured of third spot in the table with 13 wins out of a possible 17 so far. In contracts Clapton sit third bottom in what has been another season of struggle at Thornwood, where they have only just managed to avoid relegation once again.
But while his side secured a 0-23 victory in the corresponding victory earlier in the season, Ilford coach Scahill is taking nothing for granted.
He said: "It has been a fantastic season for us and we want to end it on a high. While Clapton have struggled a bit this season, we wont take anything for granted as anything can happen in derby games and the form book often goes out of the window.
"We will also be giving some of our young players a run out, as we look to build for next season."
Clapton skipper Oli Stokes, who has missed the campaign because of a knee injury, is also predicting a close contest.
He said: "There has been a real rivalry built up between the sides over the years and we normally secure one win each during the season.
"So having lost at our place earlier in the season, hopefully we can win at their place on Saturday.
"We have a few more injury worries, and stand-in skipper Lee Garwood will be missing after fracturing his skull in the last game against Bancroft. Adam Prince will however be back to step in and as we've got nothing to lose hopefully we can go out and enjoy a good game of rugby."
