Loughton's Peach hoping Old Coop's fixture will bear some fruit

LOUGHTON have a simple new year's resolution, to register more wins and stave off the threat of relegation.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's trip to Old Cooperians, Hornbeam Road veteran Tony Peach said: "We are looking to kick start 2008 with a win and to raise the form bar. We had a disappointing first half of the season. Old Cooperians are above us in the league, but we have a good chance."

Old Cooperians stand third in Essex Two, a couple of spots off table toppers Thames. Loughton ended 2007 with three straight defeats and currently languish second bottom of the division, as well as losing out 7-29 in the corresponding fixture at the end of September.

The club has compiled a hit list of must win games to salvage their campaign which includes all of their home fixtures.

Peach added: "The best we can hope for now is a mid table finish. We have been in relegation dog fights before, a couple of years ago, but nowadays we have better strength in depth."

Loughton's hopes are set to be buoyed by a full squad to pick from for this weekend's game.
