Loughton in for a real test against the table toppers
Action from when the sides met at Hornbeam Road in a 5-5 draw last season
Action from when the sides met at Hornbeam Road in a 5-5 draw last season

LOUGHTON hope to hoist themselves away from the foot of the table and put the brakes on Clacton with a win when the table topper's visit this weekend.

The Hornbeam Road outfit currently lie second bottom of Essex Two, and go into the clash with only a solitary win in their last five games.

Clacton, as befitting the pace setters have racked up maximum points over the same period, although two of those were aborted matches where they were granted the spoils.

The last encounter between Loughton and Clacton ended in a 45-12 victory for the latter. But according to captain Duncan Kaye, the individual results of these matchesform part of long running tit-for-tat pattern.

He said: "They are usually interesting games between the pair of us. We do badly one time, win the next. Much will depend on what sort of team they send down."

Kaye believes there are parallels inhoweach side sets outits stall that always makes for engaging clashes.

He said: "Clacton are one of the few teams in the league with a focus on backs instead of forwards. They are young and quick. We have the same focus, and that suits us when we play each other. It looks like being a good game."

Loughton are set to choose from an full squad.
