ESSEX THREE side Ongar will want to protect their third place with a win this weekend as all the clubs in the division seek to avoid the tag of the region's bottom side.
They host Stanford Le Hope knowing that a win would put only a small dent in the lead second place sitters May and Baker hold over them, and that defeat would fling them back into the mixer at the foot of the table.
Captain Dave Blake claims his squad has been encouraged by their last performance against table toppers Runwell Wyverns.
He said: "Spirits are high after our last league game. We really pushed Runwell right to the end."
Ongar eventually lost that away clash 23-17, and the efforts of the team seem to have taken its toil upon some players.
Blake said: "We have a few injuries to key players so there will be people playing out of position, but we intend to give Stanford a hard and physical game."
