Ongar 29
Ravens 15
(Essex Three)
A DEPLETED Ongar side picked up their first league win of the season at the fifth time of asking as they cantered past Ravens.
Graham Bell’s men had been hit hard by a number of injuries, leaving them short as they tried to field a side capable of challenging for victory.
And they exceeded all expectations by knocking almost thirty points past their opponents in miserable conditions.
Ongar were never behind in the match, first taking the lead with a penalty try after an infringement from the visitors.
Ravens soon levelled, but that was to be the only time they got near their hosts, as Ongar ran in three more tries, including two impressive efforts from Gary Sanderson and Steve Everson.
Veteran full-back Ashley Stearn added nine points with his boot, and although Ravens rallied, they never looked like getting close to the home side.
