WOODFORD will be relegated from London One North barring a final day miracle.

The Highams men must beat Ruislip on Saturday and hope other results go their way if they are to avoid the drop.

A whopping 89-14 defeat at home to Westcliff has left the local outfit marooned at the bottom of the table on 33 points – two adrift of their nearest rivals, Tabard.

The result was Woodford's sixth successive defeat; a run that has seen them plummet down the division and put their league status in jeopardy.

A bonus-point victory could move the team up to 12th, although they would have to rely on Tabard and Stevenage Town losing their final games of the season.

Chingford's miserable sequence of losses reached seven at the weekend, as they slumped to a 43-22 defeat at home to Letchworth Garden City.

With promotion hopes now a distant memory, Chingford will hope to cause an upset against champions Westcliff on Saturday in the last fixture of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Eton Manor's early season travails have long been left behind, although they too have been on a losing streak in the final straight.

Third-bottom Stevenage Town got the better of the New Wilderness side, 28-20, on Saturday, marking their third successive loss.

Colchester make the trip to Chigwell on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Bancroft's worst fears were realised as they were relegated back down to Essex One from London Three North East, following an injury-plagued season.

The Bs went out on a high, running in a massive ten tries as they thumped bottom club Mersea Island 54-5 in their final game of the campaign.

Better luck with injuries next season could see the team make an immediate return to the division.

Wanstead slipped to defeat at third-placed Norwich in the same division, going down 38-15, leaving them to reflect on what might have been after a season that promised so much faded, with the club finishing in sixth place.

In Essex Two, Ilford Wanderers brought the curtain down on their season with a 22-0 win over Burnham-on-Crouch.

The Wanderers finished the season in third place.
