Bancroft 26
Maldon 17
(Essex One)
BANCROFT ended what has been a vastly improved season on a high with a home win over Maldon.
The visitors, who had secured second spot and a place in the play-offs, faced a B's side that had to make several changes because of injuries.
But it was the hosts who opened the scoring on 20 minutes when Silk ran in the first try of the afternoon which Farrow converted.
Bancroft almost added a second score but paid the price with Maldon running in two quick tries to secure a 10-7 lead at the break.
The B's, however, drew first blood, in the second period after a spilt ball in the midfield was gathered by Silk who sprinted in from 30 metres out to score under the posts. Farrow converted.
A mistake let Maldon in for a converted try that put them back in front at 17-14.
Bancroft hit back and a punt forward from Silk lan-ded in the hands of Edwards who scored his first try for the B's. Again Farrow converted to make it 21-17.
This buoyed the home side and with Maldon now throwing everything forward, the hosts hit them on the break when replacement Warwick showed great pace and excellent strength to touch down in the corner.
